Kim,

Once again I appreciate you doing this!! As I have not completed my reading to this point I'll have to refrain from commenting specifically. However, I was struck by the Dostoevsky quote, “Where there is no God, all things are permissible.”

This really struck me because while we were in Russia our translator shared a little phrase that was common in Russia. The saying was, "If it is not permited, then it is allowed". Rather shocking to my ears and thinking, but it clearly illustrated/reflected how a godless society/worldview adapts and copes without God!

It also helped us to better understand and deal with the various challenges we would have in training our daughters to think Biblically after so many years of this sort of thinking/culture!

We loved Knowing God. We used a study guide that we bought to go with the book and just did the questions from that every time that we met.

Silly me! I forgot to put THIS blog on my Bloglines so I just now discovered the recent ESV post--had been longing for it! Won't let THAT happen again!

Had recent opportunity to share Packer's insights on antinomies with my daughter's home school discussion group (Xian worldview primer) as the topic of "contradictions" came up. Am sooooo enjoying Packer's book and your discussion/questions.

Oh, I forgot to tell you that I have lead several groups through the study of Knowing God as well and it is one of my all time favorites!

The group I am studying with now may go on to Knowing God next. It is at least one of the options we have talked about.
