What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Compare yourself with those who on the Lord’s Day hear nothing except the dismal sound of the world. What a privilege it is for you to hear the proclamation of the gospel!

The Lamb of God

The Lamb of God:  The Bible's Unfolding Revelation of Scripture by Robert Reymond

I'm just getting ready to start reading this book to see whether I want to chose this book as the next book we study in our Ladies' Small Group Bible Study.  This book follows the "unfolding revelation of it's doctrinal teaching on Jesus 'slain Lamb of God."

I use Robert Reymond's A New Systematic Theology regularly and appreciate his thoroughness and the pastoral quality of his writings.  I'm really looking forward to reading this book!

William Carey and the Missionary Vision

William Carey and the Missionary Vision by Daniel Webber

I just finished this book.  Our ladies' small group book study is discussing this book during November and December.

The book is divided into three parts:

I.  William Carey and the Missionary Vision

A brief biological sketch of Carey, specifically with regard to his missionary vision.

II.  An Enquiry into the Obligations of Christians to Use Means for the Conversion of the Heathens

This is Carey's treatise on missionary endeavors, written in 1792

III.  On Delays in Religious Concerns

A Sermon by Carey's Friend and Co-laborer, Andrew Fuller, 1791

Jonathan Edwards: A Life

Jonathan Edwards:  A Life by George Marsden

Jonathan Edwards is my favorite theologian of all time.  This is an absorbing account of his life.  I've read only the first few chapters and I am hooked.  Destined to be read and re-read, I suspect.
