What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

All the purposes of man have been defeated, but not the purposes of God. The promises of man may be broken—many of them are made to be broken—but the promises of God shall all be fulfilled. He is a promise-maker, but He never was a promise-breaker; He is a promise-keeping God, and every one of His people shall prove it to be so. This is my grateful, personal confidence, "The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me"—unworthy me, lost and ruined me.

Charles Spurgeon, A Defense of Calvinism

Giving Thanks in November

I'm just now getting around to posting yesterday's thankful thought but, as you will see, I was busy doing other things.

I won't regale you with all the activities of a busy Saturday; everybody is busy on Saturday.  But not everybody gets to settle into a soft leather chair and read a new 140+ page screenplay; a screenplay written by one's own 16 year old son!

Sam is a delightful writer!  His adventure/action "movie" is filled with likable characters, whitty banter, comedy, drama and ACTION!  As his teacher, he asked me to give him some editorial feedback, so I sat down with a pencil and a stack of post-its, but after a few pages, the post-its were forgotten as I entered into the world of my son's imagining.

It was a singularly delightful experience.  This kid can write.  I am very proud of him.  I'm thankful for the talents God has given him, the willingness he has to share his work, the way he asks for and receives feedback and his wonderful imagination.

Who knows?  Maybe someday he'll be a director, standing there beside a big old camera with a clipboard in his hand and headphones on his ears counting down. . . 3. . .2. . .1. . .action!

That's great! I hope my son is like that when HE is 16, too.
