What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
It is not work that kills men, it is worry. Work is healthy; you can hardly put more on a man than he can bear. But worry is rust upon the blade. It is not movement that destroys the machinery, but friction."

Henry Ward Beecher

Giving Thanks in November

I got "one of those calls" today.

My brother  became ill and was taken to the hospital by ambulance today.  He was at a regional business meeting and far from home.  He spent several hours in the emergency room and they took lots of test.  My mom just called and told us that she had talked to him and he will likely be released.  He has been sick and apparently his blood pressure went way up but he's better now.

I am so grateful that he is going to be OK.  He just turned 50 and I lost my father to a heart attack when he was just 51, so I was very concerned--heart attacks sort of run in our family.

It is a reminder to me that each one of our lives is sustained by God, moment by moment, whether we stop to think of it or not.  It is He who gives us life and He who preserves and sustains our lives.

That is certainly the important thing, isn't it. To realize that our lives are sustained moment by moment by God, and they are to be lived for Him alone. I pray for health and healing for your brother, and peace for you.

Glad to hear he's coming along. Heart problems in my family too. My Dad passed away of a major heart attack at the age of 42. I had just gotten married Mar 5th, 1977 and he passed away right after our Memorial Day get together. Only 3 men on my Dad's side of the family have lived to be over the age of 65 from way back in the family tree. Makes you think ... how? when? May you all have peace and healing.
