What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Compare yourself with those who on the Lord’s Day hear nothing except the dismal sound of the world. What a privilege it is for you to hear the proclamation of the gospel!

This and that

Another busy day at my drawing board awaits me today.  The push is on to get everything complete and 'out the door' by the 10th.  Here are some extremely random thoughts:

I've hit the 'mark as all read' button on my Google Reader more than once this week.  I hope I haven't missed anything important!

It is bitter cold out this morning.  Bitter cold.  3 degrees when I got up.  Brrrrr.  My nose hairs froze when I took Eve out to go potty.

She did not get a walk.  She did not want a walk.  Neither did I.

I love the sparkly, crisp, squeakiness of the snow when it's very cold.

I do not love the very cold, however.

My coffee tastes particularly good this morning in my Santa mug. (I think I'll have a second cup!)

I got an email from my husband yesterday with a link to a story about the release of Rowling's "The Tales of Beedle the Bard."  I preordered it from Amazon the first day it was available and then promptly forgot about it.  My package from Amazon arrived on my doorstep with two copies--one for me and one for Sam.  Yippee!!

I have no idea when I will have time to read it.

I listened to "A Christmas Carol" on my iPod the other day.  I think I will listen to it again today.  It's wonderful.

I have not read or studied much this week, just one short article from The Highway. This will never do.

Our family watched "Prince Caspian" last night.  I saw it when it was in the theater and thought it was pretty good.  Now I think it was just OK.

Oh, I forgot.  I did read Tim's Reading Classics assignment in Mere Christianity this week.  I don't know if I'll stick with it or not.  It's been a long, long time since I read it.  When I took my book down from the shelf I discovered that it was yellowed and crisp and the glue had dried and cracked so that the pages are falling out.

For copperplate practice, I have been using a bottle of ink that I purchased back in the early 80's.  I'll be sad when it's gone.

Trigonometry is really tough stuff.  We had to go backwards two chapters and review for a while.  Today we will be tackling the chapter that defeated us again.  Wish us luck.

I miss my family in Ohio.  I hope my mom can come for Christmas.

I love working at my drawing board.  It makes me happy.

I never made my bed yesterday.

I promise to make it today.

Time to fix breakfast and get busy.

I hope you are all well and happy.  I'll come visit soon.

Soon is a relative term.

I haven't made my bed for a week. In California I make it everyday cuz it kinda just is right out there in the open but here in Washington it's tucked away in it's own little upstairs retreat and pretty much gets ignored. 3 degrees! yikes that's cold...
Trigonometry...won't touch that.
I hope your mom gets to come, too...

Old ink and old books make you old? That can't be right! Living out of sync with God and family and nature makes you old! Living in the moment with those you love and who love you, honoring the time God has given you on earth- these things make you eternally young and beautiful! Look in the mirror and rejoice at all the love marks on your face- "This is the day that the Lord has made- let us rejoice and be glad in it" and remain forever young in our Father's hands. Old books and old ink makes you wealthy and wise!

Kim,

Didn't anyone tell you that beds do not need to be made during the month of December? There are far to many more important things to do, like gazing at the tree, making presents, baking, etc.

Also, if it is left unmade, you can pop in for a warm-up whenever you wish.

I like, btw, your miscellany posts. It's as if I popped by unexpectedly and got a peek at your real day.

Best,

Suzanne

I just finished watching Prince Caspian today--I hadn't seen it in the theaters. I was not expecting much and was pleasantly surprised! (I liked the emotions on the faces and the scenery and I love how Edmund and Lucy have grown up.)
