What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Compare yourself with those who on the Lord’s Day hear nothing except the dismal sound of the world. What a privilege it is for you to hear the proclamation of the gospel!

Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God

Evangelism and The Sovereignty of God is a classic written by J.I. Packer that answers the questions:  If God is Sovereign and ordains everything, including salvation, then why evangelize?  What about human responsibility?

Our women's small group book study will begin to go through this book together on January 18th.  I have already read this book more several times, but this time I am preparing supplemental materials and discussion questions.  If anyone is interested, and wants to study along with us, let me know in the comments and I will post up the discussion questions and links to resources that I am sharing with the group.

I found your "other" blog through Kim at Upward Call-(quite sometime ago) but just today found THIS blog while "poking around". :-)

I'm very much interested and excited about working through Packer's book with you via this blog. I have been reading Knowing God, and hope to keep that one going too--I expect this to be very profitable!

Hi Connie,

I just visited your blog and tried to leave you a comment, but blogger didn't cooperate, so I'll leave it here. (I'll be back, by the way!)

I'm glad you left a comment to let me know you are reading and that you are interested in following along with us as we study ESG.

I'll be posting up our study questions each week and now that I know you are reading along, I will try to write up a summary of some of the things we discussed as a group. Feel free to post your thoughts and observations in the comments! I'll be interested in reading them!

Hi,

Our women's Bible Study is reading this book. We just finished Knowing God and talked with Dr. Packer about election and predestination, and, in typical Dr. Packer style, he didn't answer our questions, but told us to go read this book. We're starting on Monday the 12th of Feb. and so will download your questions and work through them as we read. Thanks so much.

Hi Ann,

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a note.

I will try to be a bit more specific in the future when I post up notes.

We meet again tomorrow afternoon. I'll try to at least get the resources I am using for lesson preparation posted up in the morning and then when I get home in the afternoon, I'll try to get the rest of my notes up.

If I can help in any way, just send me an email. You can find my contact information in the side bar.

Oh, I forgot to tell you that I have lead several groups through the study of Knowing God as well and it is one of my all time favorites!

The group I am studying with now may go on to Knowing God next. It is at least one of the options we have talked about.

Hi Kim

We loved Knowing God. We used a study guide that we bought to go with the book and just did the questions from that every time that we met.
