A Change in Study Material
We're six chapters into Studies in the Person and Work of Jesus Christ, and after this week, we will continue in our study in Christ's Person and Work, but we will be using different materials.
I find that I can no longer unreservedly recommend this book to you. While I still find it theologically sound, the tone is polemic and harsh.
Mr. Best wrote this book in the mid-70's, during a period of time in which the ideology of the 60's was coming home to roost within the church. Jesus Christ Superstar was all the rage and the Person and Work of Christ was under attack in churches across America. Mr. Best was fighting against the challenges of the time which may explain the aggressive tone. I offer that as an explanation, not an excuse.
We will continue the study, using The Person of Christ, by David F. Wells and The Person and Work of Christ, by B.B. Warfield, and we may dip into Christ the Lord, by Michael Horton, along with selected articles from Monergism.com.
