Giving Thanks in November

Thanksgiving is over and the Christmas decorating has officially begun! I had to navigate through the Christmas boxes this morning as I made my way, coffee cup in hand, to plug in the Christmas lights. Hopefully, by the end of the day the decorating will be finished and all the boxes will be returned to the attic.
I seem to get up earlier in December and I think it's because I love when the house is dark and quiet and only the Christmas lights are lit. I love to sit in the semi-darkness and think about God's goodness to me. That Christ has come to this earth; the Infinite God in the likeness of man, to live the perfect, sinless life and to give that life a ransom for many. That the Son of God has returned to Heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father and ever lives to make intercession--for me. . .Christmas, Easter, Pentecost. . .they blend together as I sit in the dark, thanking God. Jesus Christ, Light of the World.
John 1: 1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness. . .
I'm thankful for Christmas and Christ, the Light of the World.

After I take Dear to the airport I'll be hauling down boxes and starting the decorating process! This year I get to go out and buy the tree and put lights on without hubby. hmmm. Blessings on you and enjoy the lights and THE LIGHT!
I too enjoy a dark quiet house with only the Christmas tree lights glowing--great time of reflection and thanksgiving!
BTW, I've updated my "Thankful November" post over at Practicing Theology--hope to stay up-to-date as November draws to a close!!
I too love the Christmas lights early in the morning with a cup of coffee! Awake my soul; the Light has come!
PS I've nearly fallen off the blog wagon, so I don't know how long you've had your new header, but I like it!
I decorate slowly, slowly over late November and December - I like it to gradually build up. And also, I am lazy. I bought this beautiful little church today that lights up - so pretty!
