What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
It is not work that kills men, it is worry. Work is healthy; you can hardly put more on a man than he can bear. But worry is rust upon the blade. It is not movement that destroys the machinery, but friction."

Henry Ward Beecher

Giving Thanks in November

Tonight I'm thankful for our old, well loved and slightly abused gas grill. This grill is at least 10 years old and still kickin'.  We have prepared a lot of meals on and entertained a lot of friends with this poor old thing.

When we were raking leaves and doing yard work last weekend, one of my witty sons  declared that the grill appears to be "returning to nature."  It was immediately dubbed and forever will be known as  "the feral grill. "

Sometimes, when we're walking through the lawn and garden section of our local "big box" hardware store, we check out the new models.  Side burners, rotisseries, built in storage, marble sideboards call to us.  But in the end, other than looking a bit on the wild side, there is nothing wrong with our good ol' feral grill.  So, we keep walking by the new models, thankful that some things do outlive their "expected life span."

Speaking of outliving its expected lifespan, maybe we'll talk about my beloved old car before the month is over.  I'm thankful for it, too!
