What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Compare yourself with those who on the Lord’s Day hear nothing except the dismal sound of the world. What a privilege it is for you to hear the proclamation of the gospel!

Giving Thanks in November

Ivy%20talking.jpgI missed posting my thanksgiving yesterday, but I had much to be thankful for!

I took our girl dog, Ivy, to the vet on Tuesday and I've been worried ever since.  I'd noticed she was losing weight.  She's been acting normally; eating, drinking, playing, digging, begging, wagging, kissing--all the usual stuff--but she's just so skinny.

Vizslas are sporting dogs so lean is good.  You should see some ribs on a Vizsla, but not hip bones.  The vet wasn't concerned so much with the way she looked but she was downright alarmed with how much weight she has lost since she was boarded there in September when we went home to Ohio for a wedding.  She's gone from 49.8 pounds to 42.3 since around Labor Day.  That's about 20 percent of her weight.  Not good.

The blood work came back perfect.  No problems there.  She's going in next week for some xrays and maybe an ultrasound to rule out tumors/cancer/nasty internal stuff.  I can tell the vet is concerned.  Hearing the words "yikes!" and "not out of the woods" from a doctor is scary.  I'm trying not to jump to conclusions.

So I'm thankful for good results from the blood work and praying for good results from the xrays next week.

She really is a wonderful dog--my constant companion--and losing her so young would be a terrible blow for our family.

Oh Kim, I'll keep your girl in my prayers. I know how important a dog can be to a family. I'm sure she's fine, though. Love you!

I will be praying for your baby, Kim! Hopefully, it's nothing serious, and they will just prescribe more treats....

Oh that's bad news. I hope it's something easy to treat and that she's much better soon. Oh! and I meant to tell you how glad I am that you were ok as far as that close shave the other day. Praise God!

Sally, I'm sorry to hear about Sam! I'm glad he's feeling a bit better though.

Thank you to all who have voiced your concerns about Ivy. I'll let you know when we get to the end of the vet stuff and know what we are dealing with.

For now, she is being spoiled even more than usual. And she is as ornery as she has ever been!
