What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Christianity is the true worship and service of the true God, humankind’s Creator and Redeemer. It is a religion that rests on revelation: nobody would know the truth about God, or be able to relate to him in a personal way, had not God first acted to make himself known. But God has so acted, and the sixty-six books of the Bible, thirty-nine written before Christ came and twenty-seven after, are together the record, interpretation, expression, and embodiment of his self-disclosure. God and godliness are the Bible’s uniting themes.

Children's Poetry Month: I Never Saw a Moor

Children's Poetry Month is winding down, so I thought I'd add another poem today.  It harmonizes with my morning thoughts of faith and confidence.  Sam had to recite this poem in school a few years ago and I learned it right along with him.  It didn't take long to memorize; it's just a few short lines.  I like it.  I hope you do, too.

I Never Saw a Moor

I never saw a moor
I never saw the sea;
Yet I know how the heather looks,
And what a wave must be.

I never spoke with God,
Nor visited in Heaven;
Yet certain am I of the spot
As if the chart were given.
