What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Compare yourself with those who on the Lord’s Day hear nothing except the dismal sound of the world. What a privilege it is for you to hear the proclamation of the gospel!

Quote of the Week

O, Christian, antedate heaven for a few years.  Within a very little time thou shalt be rid of all thy trials and thy troubles.  Thine eyes now suffused with tears shall weep no longer.  Thou shall gaze in ineffable rapture upon the splendour of Him Who sits upon the throne.

Charles Spurgeon,
quoted in Tabletalk, April 2007

Today's morning reading in Spurgeon's "Morning and Evening" devotional is about the exhaltation of Christ, and our position as his own. That reading and your quote take my breath away. How little I think about it; how much more these writings encourage me to ponder it!

Yes, I know what you mean, Rosemary.

The more I read Spurgeon, the more grateful I am that we, throughout the ages, have been give truth and grace and encouragement through his writings. He was greatly used of God in his own time and in ours as well.

These light and momentary trials are achieving for us a greater glory--that which we cannot even begin to imagine! He is worth it all...
