Letters it is!
Yippee!
I was already leaning toward the history and development of letters, so it didn't take much to push me that direction.
I'm not going to stick to a particular schedule for this series so the posts will appear as I have them ready to go. I'll be working through the various time periods chronologically, sharing examples of each lettering style and a bit of what was going on in the world at the time. If I spend a bit more time in the Middle Ages and Renaissance periods than in the Roman period, I hope you'll indulge me. I do have my favorites.
I'll share some of my own attempts at each lettering style (even copperplate-my nemesis), answer any questions you may have, teach a little bit about pens and inks and supplies, give definitions, and generally coach anyone who would like to jump in and give the art of calligraphy a go.
I think I'll call it "A Year of Letters"

I took two calligraphy classes about 9 years ago. Loved it, but wasn't very good at it. Not enough time to practice! This makes me want to dig my stuff out and give 'er a go again. Calligraphy is so beautiful and useful. I'm looking forward to it, Kim!
I know this series will inspire me to pick up my pens again. I need to start practicing.
There is a local college here that offers a course; I think I may take it.
I feel a new button for the side-bar coming on ;-)
Pens and paper are ready!
I can't wait!
Hmm...now just where did I put those calligraphy pens??? Let's get started! :)
Okay, I don't have any pens, but I'm glad that this category won. Yippee, too!

Yay!!! I am so pleased!

Any tips for lefties will be greatly appreciated! (Or is there no particular difficulty for lefties...?) I don't have pens here, but I'm sure I can find marker pens with the slanted edge...
Looking forward to this series...
