What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Compare yourself with those who on the Lord’s Day hear nothing except the dismal sound of the world. What a privilege it is for you to hear the proclamation of the gospel!

A Reminder of Winter's Approach

It's a small thing, really.  So often, the small almost imperceptible things remind us of coming changes in the seasons.

In the midst of my glorying in the splendor of the leafy autumn beauty, I had a small foretaste of winter this morning that I was not expecting.

I keep a little butter dish on the kitchen window sill, ready with half a stick of butter at all times.  (Hard butter is not the friend of freshly toasted bread)  This morning, the butter was hard.  Not as hard as it would be if it had been in the refrigerator, but hard enough to make spreading it on toast a challenge.

Soon I will have to add moving the butter to the countertop to my evening preparations.

It's a small thing.  But it tells me winter is coming.

Oh yes - it's coming here too. I could see my breath yesterday morning...

I woke up to a lawn covered in snow this morning. That's a pretty big sign... :)

cool. indeed, sometimes it's the small things that bring to our attention larger changes.

different here though, since we don't experience winter.

We were a nippy 27 degrees this morning. I think it makes my two big mugs of coffee taste significantly better!

Oh my----Rebecca has snow already. Better dust off the snow shovels.

It is always the small things that are important day to day. We spend our lives waiting for the next big thing but the small ones are what I have the strongest memories of- hence they become the foundation for all other memories. Sorry, didn't mean to wax philosophical, but you started it by buttering the way!
