What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

When you are a Bear of Very Little Brain, and Think of Things, you find sometimes that a Thing which seemed very Thingish inside you is quite different when it gets out into the open and has other people looking at it.

Quote of the Week: La Rochefoucauld

L'esprit ne saurait jouer longtemps le personnage du coeur.

La Rochefoucauld

The mind cannot impersonate the heart for very long.

What do you think that means, Kim? To you?

I'm sure it probably seems like an obscure quote, but I have my reasons for posting it. I've been preparing a lesson on Hebrews 6:4-8--doing a lot of study on assurance of salvation, once saved always saved vs.preservation of the saints, mental assent vs. the gift of faith, etc.

I guess the weight of man's infinite capacity for heart-felt, 'sincere' idolatry has been weighing heavily on me the past few days, especially now with Easter's arrival.

The Lord of Glory is Risen and seated at the right hand of the Majesty on High and yet, there are still those who "were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame."

It is not enough to know the right things and think the right things, after all. True, saving faith is a matter of a changed heart.
