QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Compare yourself with those who on the Lord’s Day hear nothing except the dismal sound of the world. What a privilege it is for you to hear the proclamation of the gospel!

Brown Plate Special: Week Nine Weigh in

brown%20plate%20special.jpgThis week's weight loss--1 pound.

Total weight loss--8.0 pounds.

Fitness Averages per day:

miles per day:  1.5

calories burned per workout: 185 (tallied only during the treadmill portion plus whatever is burned during the exercise portion)

carbs burned per workout: 22 (same as above)

speed/incline: varies throughout workout.  Highest level 3.5 speed/4.0 incline

Exercise has now become an easy routine for me.  I find myself looking for ways to be active and I've added a few, short additional routines that have boosted my stats just a little bit.  I've learned that it's important to increase repetitions and sets as they become really easy; walk a little farther, walk a little faster.

I wasn't very good with my portions again last week.  Not horrible, but not as careful as I should be.  (I had seconds yesterday--I felt guilty but is there anything more tempting than Sunday beef roast, mashed potatoes and gravy?) I think, maybe, it's easier to get soft on portions when I consider how much exercise I am getting.  That could be a real black hole if I let that thinking get established, so I'm resolved to do better.

Should be fairly easy this week.  I'll be having my EP study this Friday and will likely be in the hospital until Monday morning, so the second half of the week means hospital food.  Ahem.  Exercising will be hampered, though, so it could be a wash for next week.  Don't have any idea how soon I can get back to my regular exercise routine when I get home, so I may be depending upon just the portion control for awhile so now's the time to get serious again!

If you're playing along, how did you do this week?

Check out Ellen's progress!  She's just jumped to a whole new level! Great job, Ellen!  You encourage me to keep going!

Mighty Mom has joined the Brown Plate Special and is making great progress!

Eight pounds is terrific, Kim!

I'll be praying for you during your hospital stay. The food is usually so bad, you'll probably lose weight even though you're not exercising!
