I Love Lucy

caspian.JPGJust got back from a matinee showing of Prince Caspian.  I won't review it here, other than to make a few short comments:

I love Lucy.

They left out a word in the opening credits.  It should have read LOOSELY based on the novel by C.S. Lewis.

Parts were stunningly beautiful.  I've always been a sucker for green sunlight filtering through birch trees with fern undergrowth.

Heavy duty beta blockers aside, my heart still skips beats in the exciting parts.   There were many.

After I posted I talked with a friend who pointed out several underdeveloped parts and places of inaccuracies. I do wish that there had been less battle scenes and more plot as an improvement. Gives real meaning to the phrase, "The book was better."

We just got home from the theater ourselves. I am a little disappointed. They spent time developing a relationship that wasn't even in the book rather than working with what Lewis gave them. Maybe the writers were just setting things up for later when Susan is too boy-crazy and interested in lipsticks and nylons.

My 9-year-old, who decided that she needed to reread the book this week before seeing the movie, remarked as we left the theater, "That was sooo different from the book!" She still liked it though.
