Dictionary Word of the Day: Defenestrate
Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 07:55AM
defenestrate \dee-FEN-uh-strayt\, transitive verb:
To throw out of a window.
What a great word! I didn't know there was such a word, but oh! haven't you wanted to throw something out the window? I have!
Have you ever literally defenestrated anything? If so, what was it?
What was the last thing you felt like defenestrating?
Several days ago, I wanted to throw five brand new bottles of acrylic ink (representing an investment of over $25) out the window. A handy little product called Flow-Aid saved the day.

That word is brand new to me! I have a car that I'd like to throw out the window right now - it broke down yesterday and left me stranded in Sears parking lot for 2 hours waiting for a tow truck...
One time one of my brothers nearly defenestrated himself, by accident...
I love that word, Kim! I hope I can remember it for the next time I want to defenestrate something. Right now, nothing is making me that frustrated.
P.S. Great summery banner!
Actually defenstrated, nothing I can think of in recent memory..... Wished I had defenestrated? My computer on a somewhat monthly basis (sometimes weekly), and my "bat phone" almost daily. Great word!! :)
I love this word! I remember when I first learnt what it meant I wanted to defenestrate EVERYTHING just because it sounded fun. Now, today I want to defenestrate the Department of Community Services if they don't hurry up and act to protect a young person I'm very concerned about...It's hard to throw a whole department out the window but I'd love to if it meant something better would take its place. :S
