What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Compare yourself with those who on the Lord’s Day hear nothing except the dismal sound of the world. What a privilege it is for you to hear the proclamation of the gospel!

Doing Battle

I read this in my morning Bible reading:

1 Timothy 6:11 But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

There's a lot of action in that verse!  Fleeing, pursuing, fighting, laying hold of. . .we dare not allow ourselves to be fooled into thinking that a trouble-free life means a blessed life.

Christian, there will never be a time in which we can sit back on our laurels.  As long as we are in this world, there will be things to flee and righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness to pursue.

"Faith, without trouble or fighting, is a suspicious faith; for true faith is a fighting, wrestling faith."
Ralph Erskine

Now, get out there and fight the good fight of faith!   (And while you're at it, go read this post from While We Sojourn.)

Lord help us to be more faithful in fleeing and pursuing.

My faith is more of a fainting than fighting faith.

Thank you for the link!
