What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Compare yourself with those who on the Lord’s Day hear nothing except the dismal sound of the world. What a privilege it is for you to hear the proclamation of the gospel!

Introducing

A Letter a Week

Starting this week, I am going to be sharing one letter per week, in conjunction with ABC Wednesday.  I'll also be gathering all the letters together in one page (you can find it by clicking on the letter image in the sidebar)

For the first go 'round, I will be doing all Lombardic Versals.  Once I get to 'Z' and start over, who knows?  Maybe Uncial or Italic.

So now, without further ado, the Letter 'A'

11 x 11.5 cm
Lombardic Versal
Osmiroid medium & B3 nibs and Pigma Micron 005 pen
Lettered on HP presentation paper, then printed onto Watercolor Paper
Derwent Inktense Colored Pencils, blended with a blender pen

I've got the rest of the letters pretty much plotted out but I think I may need your help with the letter 'U'; I'll need to come up with a flower, gemstone, animal, fruit or vegetable starting with the letter 'U' that's small enough to fit into a corner square.  Unicorns are a little TOO big to fit in the corner. . .

UPDATE:  You can see the entire alphabet by clicking A Letter a Week at the bottom of each post.

Oh, how lovely! I'm so looking forward to seeing these!

I was hoping you'd do more than that; why don't you join me? It'll force you to get those pens out!

An animal, vegetable or mineral that starts with U? What a challenge! What about "urchin" - an old word for hedgehog? What a great idea! I love hedgehogs and didn't know they were called urchins.

Speaking of urchins: A sea urchin would seem to work quite well. For gems there's uvarovite. For fruits there's the ugli fruit, which might be interesting.

Both are definite possibilities! I'm keeping a list. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to come up with anything but now I've got a different problem--deciding which one to use!
