What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Compare yourself with those who on the Lord’s Day hear nothing except the dismal sound of the world. What a privilege it is for you to hear the proclamation of the gospel!

Great Depression Cooking

Reader Comments (4)

So interesting! I was going to share some of the depression recipes my mother made for us growing up! Of course, she was raised on a farm so they had hamburger gravy on mashed potatoes- a lot like shepherd's pie! And cauliflower with cheese sauce. And a whole host of potato and/or noodle recipes- from cabbage noodles to latkes! I don't have the sweet personality that Clara has, though!:)

Thanks for posting this Kim - very interesting - and "Hello"!!

Thanks for posting this. Unfortunately, we may need more depression-era survival tips like this in the coming months! My husband is thinking of raising pigeons and rabbits in the back yard. Time to pull out all those old Mother Earth News that I think we still have in the basement!

She reminds me of my grandmother. I miss her so much.
