Laptops in the Kitchen
Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 08:27AM
Yesterday, I called up the link for chocolate pudding recipe, unplugged the laptop and carried it out to the kitchen to start cooking. When I put the laptop on the kitchen counter, I had this vision of a huge, rapidly spreading spill of some undefined liquid coursing its way toward my computer. So before I even got out the measuring cups, I hauled out my wire cooling rack. Voila!!--my laptop was safely above the mess and protected from undefined liquid making its way into its every crevice.

My new computer is not a laptop, but my desk is right outside the kitchen door, so when I have a recipe called up, I do a lot of running back and forth between locations.
I must say the wire rack idea was quite ingenious!
As rich as that pudding is, I should have been running back and forth! Might have burned a few calories!
I use my laptop a lot when cooking...I make a habit of preparing from my kitchen block and put the laptop on the side counter. The wire rack was a great idea.
Slick! I use my laptop in the kitchen all the time and I'll be using your idea.
I use my laptop for recipes too - and I always have nightmares of such things happening. So I keep it in it's usual place and run back and forth . . . I think your idea is better :)
PS Kim - if you use Google reader or Bloglines or RSS feeds - you may have to resubscribe to me - I changed my URL and it's causing a problem. Resubscribing should work. thanks!
PS - Love your St Patrick's day banner - lovely and green!
Clever!
I bought my first wire racks a couple of years back. Since then I've thought they're a great invention - and seems it's only getting better!
Great Idea! I put mine on the kitchen table and run back and forth. I use it as a brain game- how much can I remember at one time! LOL- the recipe does tend to get a little disjointed- and I'm not sure the brain is any ore retentive!
Brilliant!
