What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Compare yourself with those who on the Lord’s Day hear nothing except the dismal sound of the world. What a privilege it is for you to hear the proclamation of the gospel!

First Day of Spring Giveaway

It's been a while since I had a giveaway at Hiraeth and the first day of Spring seems like a good day for another one.

The first person to identify where this phrase comes from will get the signed original in the mail.  I need the author's name, please.  Be sure to leave an email address so I can contact the winner.  Good Luck!

For still there are so many things that I have never seen:
in every wood in every spring there is a different green.
I sit beside the fire and think of people long ago,
and people who will see a world that I shall never know.
But all the while I sit and think of times there were before,
I listen for returning feet and voices at the door. ~from I Sit and Think by J.R.R. Tolkien

Nice poem, isn't it? But I had to google it so I don't really deserve the prize....

Me, too. I recognized Tolkien as the author- but was unsure of where it appeared- so I googled it. I thought it sounded like Bilbo.

Hi Heidi,

Don't I wish?!! No, that photo was taken at the Parsley Pot, in Ashland, Ohio. I blogged about it last year when I first used this banner. You can see more photos here:
