What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Compare yourself with those who on the Lord’s Day hear nothing except the dismal sound of the world. What a privilege it is for you to hear the proclamation of the gospel!

Sunday Hymn: Not All the Blood of Beasts

NOT ALL THE  BLOOD OF BEASTS

Not all the blood of beasts
On Jewish altars slain,
Could give the guilty conscience peace,
Or wash away the stain:

But Christ, the heavenly Lamb
Takes all our sins away,
A sacrifice of nobler name
And richer blood than they.

My faith would lay her hand
On that dear head of thine,
While like a penitent I stand,
And there confess my sin.

My soul looks back to see
The burdens thou didst bear,
When hanging on the cursed tree,
And knows her guilt was there.

Believing, we rejoice
To see the curse remove;
We bless the Lamb with cheerful voice,
And sing his bleeding love.

Trinity Hymnal #176

I love the meaty words of this one but I had a hard time singing it this morning. I wonder if its ever set to another tune.

We were just talking about that! It WAS unfamiliar and hard to sing, wasn't it?

I've never heard this one - I'll have to look it up now!

One that I miss so much is the doxology: Praise God from whom all blessings flow! Praise Him all creatures here below! Praise Him above, ye heavenly host! Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost! Amen!
