Playoffs
I must admit I was way wrong on the Colorado Rockies. Can anybody stop them? Or is the National League just that weak? In all my years of watching baseball I’ve never seen a team play this well at the end of the season. Oh sure, teams have swept series before, but I can’t remember any team being this hot when every game counts just to get to the playoffs, and then sustaining it when they get there. It’s amazing. The Rockies are one of those teams where the whole seems greater than the sum of its parts.
As for the American League, Cleveland came out of Boston in great shape after winning Saturday night’s game. On Friday night, they lost to Josh Beckett, probably the best pitcher in baseball right now. Then they persevered in game two to win in extra innings. Even though I’m a die hard Tribe fan, I couldn’t stay awake long enough to see the win.
Does playoff baseball seem interminably slow? Every game seems like it takes forever. Now it’s back to the Jake for the next three games. Here’s hoping Cleveland takes at least two out of three to put the pressure on Boston.

I don't have much to add except, "Man, O Manny," I wish Manny Ramirez was still an Indian!
I'm having some conflicted feelings right about now. I confess that I am rooting for the Rockies to win the NL, (are they exciting or what!?!) but the thought of facing them in the World Series fills me with dread. Even if the Indians can manage to get past Boston, it would take a miracle for them to overcome this year's apparent "team of destiny."
Good thing I believe in miracles.
Go Tribe.

I am not a sports fan, but I've gotten hooked on watching the Rockies in the playoffs. They've surprised us completely, and I think they're going to be giving somebody a run for their money in the World Series!
