QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Compare yourself with those who on the Lord’s Day hear nothing except the dismal sound of the world. What a privilege it is for you to hear the proclamation of the gospel!

Voila'

voila.jpg

C'est fini!

Cupboards repaired:  check

Walls painted and sponged:  check

Ceiling repaired and painted:  check

Cupboards and trim painted:  check

Light up:  Yahoo!  Finally!

Next up:  new baseboard, then crown molding.  The baseboard has to be done--the previous owner's dog chewed it under the pantry cupboard--but now I'm wondering now about the crown molding.  The kitchen is such a plain, farmhouse style.  Do you think crown molding will be too much?  We have beautiful 14" crown molding everywhere else in the house.  Opinions, please!

What a wonderful job y'all accomplished. It looks great. I like your new blog look, too!

It's beautiful, Kim. I know this was a labor of love as well as a labor. Opinions on the crown molding--I love it personally. But I live in a Victorian style repro that has crown molding everywhere. I'm biased. I don't think that having a bit in the kitchen would take away from the farmhouse style. .02

You must really be revved up and in a redecorating mode--I like your new blog look. Makes me want to do one on mine; maybe that's the kick in the pants that I need to get going again...

And your kitchen--a wonderfully inviting place! As for the crown molding, I think your kitchen is begging for it! I love crown molding, and like Elle, have a great bias for it.

Love your new blog look Kim. Very warm and inviting. Your kitchen has that same welcoming look..
I love crown molding too, and think it would add a nice touch to this space.

BEAUTIFUL!! The new decor and the new blog!! As to the crown molding, I don't think that crown molding itself would be a bad idea, although I'm not sure if 14" crown molding wouldn't overpower the space. Can you put up a test piece to see how you like it before making the commitment? Maybe a narrower version of what you already have might look better?

Still - BRAVA! I just love a good redecoration, especially a DIY! :)

We're going to see if we can find a simple, beaded molding to harmonize with the beaded edge of the ceiling medallion. Whatever we do, it will be simple. The kitchen is really tiny--a narrow galley style, so you're right; big moldings would definitely overpower it!

Yes to crown molding, but narrower, like 5 inches or so.

I love the new blog look. The new kitchen looks great, too. When you are done at you house, could you come do mine?

I had to have another look - what colors did you go with on the paint? It's hard to tell in the photo but it looks like a pale yellow?
