What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Compare yourself with those who on the Lord’s Day hear nothing except the dismal sound of the world. What a privilege it is for you to hear the proclamation of the gospel!

'She's' Baaack

mat%20award.JPGAfter an extended blogging break, Carol is back and she's giving out some "bloggy love" in the form of the Mathetes Award for Excellence in Discipleship.  I am honored to be one of the recipients.

According to the originator of the award,

Mathetes is the Greek word for disciple, and the role of the disciple (per the Great Commission) [is] to make more disciples.

This award is an honor and I must give credit where credit is due.  The daily meditations I've been posting this year from Charles Spurgeon have been the "meat and potatoes" of this blog.  I hope that the regular readers of this blog have come to love the writings of this man of God as much as I do, and gain as much encouragement and strength.

Here are my five:

Rebecca Writes

The Upward Call

A  Complete Thought

Godward Thoughts

Practicing Theology

It's so hard to chose just five people to pass this award on to, for there are so many bloggers who daily  share posts of encouragement from God's Word.  That's the good thing about these kinds of awards, though; each recipient gets to share the award with five more, so we all get exposed to some blogs that we might not already be reading.   I've discovered some of my favorite blogs in this way.

I have to agree with you on the five you chose. They are excellent bloggers who write to instruct and challenge.

Thank you Kim! Is it possible to give the award "back" since I find your blogging to be of such value? :-)

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Kim! It came on a day when I'm feeling very tired (coughing and sneezing!!) and ill prepared for my morning with the young mothers.

Thanks for the boost of confidence.

A distinction well deserved!

Congratulations, Kim!! :) And thank you so much for your consistent presence online - I'm challenged and encouraged every time I stop by!

Thank you very much, Kim. I'm grateful for your encouragement. The name of the award initially threw this plain brain off because I thought it actually had to do with Math--of which I am a knucklehead. How pleasing instead to know that it is about being a disciple of Christ and seeking to make disciples of Christ. This is a pervasive theme in my life. Your blog is very definitely part of how God disciples me to His thoughts. To you I return many thanks.
