Recipe Round-up: Cookies, Bars, and Candies
Never did get my baking finished started today, so I don't have pictures yet, but here are some recipes I will be making this Christmas:
Cookies for a Crowd:
Neiman-Marcus Cookies
2 cups butter
24 oz. chocolate chips
4 cups flour
2 cups brown sugar
2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
2 cups sugar
1- 8 oz. Hershey Bar (grated)
5 cups blended oatmeal
4 eggs
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla
3 cups chopped nuts (your choice)
Measure oatmeal, and blend in a blender to a fine powder. Cream the butter and both sugars.
Add eggs and vanilla, mix together with flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and soda. Add
chocolate chips, Hershey Bar, and nuts. Roll into balls, and place two inches apart on a cookie
sheet. Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Makes 112 cookies.
Cookies in a Hurry:
G'ma S's Ice Cream Cookies
6 T butter, softened
6 T powdered sugar
1 cup flour
1 egg yolk
dash vanilla
Cream together butter and powdered sugar. Mix in egg yolk and vanilla. Incorporate flour. Roll into walnut sized balls and sprinkle tops with holiday sprinkles. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Makes: Just enough.

Magic Cookie Bars
1/2 c. margarine or butter
1 1/2 c. graham cracker crumbs
1 (14 oz. can) Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk
1 (16 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips(I used chocolate/caramel swirl chips)
1 (13 1/2 oz can) flaked coconut (1 1/2 c.)
1 cup chopped nuts (I used pecans)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter and mix with graham cracker crumbs. Press into the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan. Pour condensed milk evenly over crumbs. Top evenly with remaining ingredients. Press down firmly and bake 25-30 minutes.

I didn't bake today either but I got a google image of the cookies I posted. :)
Blessings...
That's a good idea! I could probably find a picture of the Neiman-Marcus cookies, but the Ice Cream cookies is my mother-in-law's invention so I'll have to take my own pictures of those!
Last week I tried five new cookie recipes. One of them was a flop, I don't know if I did something wrong or if the things were supposed to be that awful...
Anyway - would you tell the stupid Finn, how much is "6 T butter"? I think I could try the "cookies in a hurry" :)
Sorry, Eija! A "T" is a tablespoon and a "t" is a teaspoon over here!
Does anyone know what the equivalent to a Hershey Bar is for the Brits?
:D
Hi, Elaine. According to the Hershey website, 1 bar equals 55 g.
Thanks Kim - it's always a change to learn something new, just requires the courage to make stupid questions :D
And seems I'm not the only one having "international baking problems" :D :D :D
I usually skip the recipes with some "bars" or candy or other things I've no idea what they are - I think it would be too difficult to find a Finnish equivalent for those anyway... But then again it's a bit shame, because many of those recipes sound very, very delicious! And I've found many great recipes from the blogland :)
