What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Compare yourself with those who on the Lord’s Day hear nothing except the dismal sound of the world. What a privilege it is for you to hear the proclamation of the gospel!

Lord of My Heart

930302-855931-thumbnail.jpgLord of my heart, give me vision to inspire me, that, working or resting, I may always think of you.

 The last six months or so have been challenging.  Worry, grief, and uncertainty over a situation has affected our family deeply.  Sometimes it is so easy to become discouraged, to be tempted to throw in the towel.  Looking at the present circumstances, it would appear that there is no hope of resolution.  So how does one keep the proper perspective and from whence does encouragement come and whence comes the hope and vision for the future in the midst of the trial?

2 Corinthians 4:6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

 2 Corinthians 2:16  Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

No matter how dark the times may seem, God is, through the trials,  working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.  We cannot see those things that are eternal but God "who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ."

The eternal weight of glory--the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.  Look to Jesus.  There is rest and hope.

 Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;

    Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
    Thou my best thought by day or by night,
    Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

    Be Thou, my wisdom and Thou my true word;
    I ever with Thee, and Thou with me, Lord;
    Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
    Thou in me dwelling and I with Thee one.

    High King of heaven, my victory won,
    May I reach heaven’s joys, O bright heav’n’s Sun!
    Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
    Still be my vision, O Ruler of all.

Amen! This is one of my faves...

Mercies Anew

Every morning that breaks there are mercies anew.
Every breath that I take is Your faithfulness proved,
And at the end of each day, when my labors are through,
I will sing of Your mercies anew

When I’ve fallen and strayed, there were mercies anew.
For you sought me in love and my heart you pursued.
In the face of my sin, Lord, You never withdrew.
So I sing of Your mercies anew.

And Your mercies they will never end;
For ten thousand years they remain.
And when this world’s beauty has passed away,
Your mercies will be unchanged.

And when the storms swirl and rage, there are mercies anew.
In affliction and pain, You will carry me through.
And at the end of my days, when your throne fills my view,
I will sing of Your mercies anew.
I will sing of Your mercies anew.

That is my favorite hymn ever. Thank you so much for posting it.

Frankly, I would throw in the towel, but I'd just have to pick it up later and wash it, so why bother.

Kim, look for God's hand in the midst of this all. He is in it, above it, below it, all over it! I pray for the peace that passes all understanding for you and yours. You will grow thru this time of trial. I know you know all this but it is still good to hear it from friends. Just know we are here for you, on our knees on your behalf. Looking forward to your posts on this poem.
