Yesterday's purchase
I do have an excuse for all the dust you seen in this post. (Don't you love excuses and juicy justifications?)
Yesterday, Dorothy and I spent three hours exploring the Woodstock Colonial Antique Mall. When we discovered a pink feather Christmas tree, I realized that I had broken one of the rules of proper antiquing and had forgotten to tuck my camera into my purse. (I did, however, have my trusty tape measure--just in case. . .)
It was Dorothy's first time there and with all the changes they have made recently, it felt like my first time there, too! I never spend very much when I shop for antiques--rarely more than $25. I have to keep myself under control because there are always oh so many things I want to bring home with me.
Yesterday, I had to chose between a teapot (I need another teapot like I need another hole in my head), a little hand painted plate that reminded me of my most recent teapot purchase, a book of Irish Ballads sheet music, a gorgeous old architect's desk (out of my price range and so not really a choice but I AM still thinking about it. . .) and an industrial banker's inkwell.
I came home with the inkwell because I love old writing instruments and supplies and I thought this little one would be a nice addition to the two other ones I have collected.
Here it is with my two other big glass inkwells. As you can see, I really do use them.

Three hours in an antique store is my idea of a good time! I like your inkwells, and I'd sure like to see that architect's desk...when you get it...
Oh good choice Kim! Sounds like a fun treasure hunt you had...
I love vintage and antique items...just wish I had more room to store them...sigh. :)
Really cool inkwells!
I LOVE that inkwell - what a treasure!
Isn't "antiquing" fun??
I'm jealous--you actually have reason/opportunity to use an ink well!!!!!!!!! I love antiquing!!
Lovely inkwells - you deserve them. I do love your calligraphy - it's really distinctive.
