What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Compare yourself with those who on the Lord’s Day hear nothing except the dismal sound of the world. What a privilege it is for you to hear the proclamation of the gospel!

That We May Lead a Quiet and Peaceable Life

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”

1 Timothy 2:1-4

What do we do now? We do what we have always been exhorted to do: intercede for all men in supplications, prayers, intercessions and giving of thanks. That includes kings and Presidents and all who are in authority over us.

So that? So that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

Doesn't that seem selfish? No, it is good and acceptable in God's sight.

How so? It is the desire of God our Saviour that all men be saved and come to the knowledge of truth.

We are called to be salt and light. We are called to have beautiful feet. We are called to make disciples of all men.

The world has not turned upside down.

Trust in the Lord and do good.  Fret not yourself.

Yet again you have exhorted me to "Trust in the Lord and do good"! Well said, my friend.

Wonderfully this was the first passage I came across this morning. So, when my bewildered 11 year old asked, "what do we do now?" I had a perfect answer. ;-)
