What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Compare yourself with those who on the Lord’s Day hear nothing except the dismal sound of the world. What a privilege it is for you to hear the proclamation of the gospel!

Project Black: Take One

When I learned that Anna had chosen black for her next project, PROJECT BLACK, this is the VERY first thing that sprang to my mind--two of my favorite photos and the images they evoked. . .

narnia%201.JPG"Next moment she found that what was rubbing against her face and hands was no longer soft fur but something hard and rough even prickly. "Why it is just like the branches of trees!" exclaimed Lucy. And then she saw that there was a light ahead of her; not a few inches away from where the back of the wardrobe ought to have been, but a long way off. Something cold and soft was falling on her. A moment later she found that she was standing in the middle of a wood at night-time with snow under her feet and snowflakes falling through the air."
Narnia%202.JPG
"She began to walk forward, crunch-crunch over the snow and through the wood toward the other light. In about ten minutes she reached it and found it was a lamp-post. . .she stood there looking at it, wondering why there was a lamp-post in the middle of a wood and wondering what to do next. . ."
C.S. Lewis, "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" pg. 6 and 7

The second photo of the lamp post is especially nice with the quote from CS Lewis.

Makes me long for the chill of winter! Great job!

I love how you combined the C.S.Lewis writings with these images that obviously so well fit. This made for a really fun first Project Black entry.

I always think of Narnia when I see a cool lamppost. Both images are perfect complements to the story and great choices for PB.

Perfect, and as I grew up with images of Narnia always in my mind it reminds me of childhood. Very nice.

I can see why they're two of your favorite photos, they are exquisite.

The softness of the first and the wonderful glow of the second.

And to put it all together with such perfect text!

don't laugh - but when the page first opened I said "ohhhhhh" and "ahhhhhh" out loud! ;)

Subtle photos. But I saw the Lion, Witch and Wardrobe scene even before I read your post... they speak loudly. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Oh, Kim...ever the poet's heart you have! Both in the way you "see" and the way you think. PERFECT companion text to go with your images.

How can you not love Narnia?

:)
