Celebrity Traveling Companions Meme
Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at 06:47PM
Ellen and her friend Bridgett have combined forces to come up with a new meme--the Big 5 Tour Meme. Just in time for a post to relieve my summer slump.
Here are the rules exciting details:
- pick 5! 5 celebrities with 5 corresponding destinations (equaling 5 separate trips).
- While you travel with them they are no longer and never were famous–They’re the same as we all know them, just not known. No paparazzi, no special accommodations, no star status. (this is more to see what personalities you’d want to travel with than getting to experience living large for a few months)
- The relationship is platonic, just friends.
- They can be celebrities who have passed away.
- Please stick to real people and real locations and not characters and fantasy locations. Don’t worry: I’m going to be asking that question (books or movies) next
- You CAN be creative….Mary Magdalene in Israel? Lance Armstrong in France? New York with Andrew Lloyd Webber? Hawaii with Obama? the possibilities are endless!
- put your answers in the comments!
- or post them on your blog and let me know so I can come have a look!
Here’s my quick list:
I’d like to journey with:
JRR Tolkien in England (maybe he'd throw in his fried CS Lewis for a walking tour)
Jonathan Edwards in New England
Paul in Jerusalem, Damascus, Corinth, Lystra, Derbe, Ephesus. . .
The Apostle Paul by Rembrandt van Rijn
Victor Hugo in Paris
Benjamin Franklin in Philadelphia
1777 Jean-Baptiste Greuze portrait of Franklin.
No tags today, but if you want to play along, let Ellen or Bridgett know so they can round them up!

Daughter Katie got very specific and wanted to tour Oxford with Tolkien and Lewis :0)
Fun answers Kim...
Oh, this sounds like fun!! :)
1. James Herriot in England
2. Louisa May Alcott in New England
3. C.S. Lewis in Ireland (it would be OK if Tolkien came along, too, but I'd really rather just talk to one at a time!! :))
4. Zane Grey in Texas, Arizona and New Mexico, with maybe a little Colorado thrown in for good measure.
5. James Michener anywhere he wanted to go - Hawaii, Japan, the South Pacific, wherever.
