What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Compare yourself with those who on the Lord’s Day hear nothing except the dismal sound of the world. What a privilege it is for you to hear the proclamation of the gospel!

A Reading Meme

Dorothy tagged me for this reading meme.  Didn't think I'd have time to fit it in but it came right in time to pull me out of my slumpity slump.

   1. Do you remember how you developed a love of reading? Not really.  It seems as though I just grew up reading the same way you grow up eating and taking baths.

   2. What are some books you loved as a child? Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch, Pinnochio, Peter Rabbit, Winnie the Pooh.

   3. What is your favorite genre? That would have to be non fiction, specifically the writings of the  Reformers and the Puritans.

   4. Do you have a favorite novel? Les Miserables is my "all time favorite novel of all time."  But of course, The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings are a close second (if four books count as a second!)

   5. When/where do you usually read? Anytime, anywhere.  I like to read in the evening with Ivy curled up on my chest.  It's hard to read laying down with trifocals, so she makes a great book rest.

   6. Do you usually have more than one book you are reading at a time? Yes, I always have several books going at the same time.  Plus a recorded book on my iPod so I can listen while I do the dishes and laundry.

   7. Do you read non-fiction in a different way or place than you read fiction?  Yes, I always read non fiction with a pencil in my hand.  I am a great marker of books.

   8. Do you buy most of the books you read, or borrow them, or check them out of the library?  I almost ALWAYS buy the books I read.   See number 8.

  9. Do you keep most of the books you buy? Yes, because I am a great re-reader of books.

  10. If you have children, what are some of the favorite books you have shared with them?
("Let me 'splain.  No, there  is too much.  Let me sum up." ) The Bingity, Bangity School Bus.  Harry the Dirty Dog.  Curious George.  Dr. Seuss.  Peter Rabbit and Winnie the Pooh.  Island of the Blue Dolphins.  The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings goes without saying. And Narnia.   Sam loved the Red Wall series.  A Christmas Carol.

  11. What are you reading now? I'm reading Writing and Illuminating and Lettering by Edward Johnstone, Pilgrim's Progress, and I'm listening to The Sorcerer's Stone on my iPod.

  12. Do you keep a To Be Read list? Oh, yes.

  13. What's next? Religious Affections by J. Edwards, Of the Just Shaping of Letters by Albrecht Durer, and Chamber of Secrets on my iPod.

  14. What books would you like to reread? Actually, all the books that are up next are ones I've read before.

I'm going to tag Dorothy for a DIFFERENT reading meme.  (When this one was floating around, she didn't have a blog.)  Here you go, Dorothy, a Bookworm Meme.

Hi Kim. Thanks for playing and I am glad you are out of your slumpity slump! I'll get on my new assignment ASAP. Probably tomorrow. Looks like more fun!

I'm adding more books to my To Read list that you've listed here. Thanks again for the idea!

Pilgrim's Progress is next on my list (for a "re-read.") And my wife started the Religious Affections yesterday! (I've never made it all the way through that one.)

Those last few questions were hard! Too many choices but I had fun making them. Thanks, Kim!
