What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Compare yourself with those who on the Lord’s Day hear nothing except the dismal sound of the world. What a privilege it is for you to hear the proclamation of the gospel!

Static and Distortion

Don't worry!  This is NOT about static and distortion on Jake's pacemaker!

The Static and Distortion I'm writing about today has to do with our eldest son, John.  John is the husband of our beautiful daughter in law, Beth, and the father of my handsome, wonderful grandson, Elliott.  He is, now, also a blogger.

Here's what he says about his blog:

The idea behind Static and Distortion is simple: Everything we consume through the media has some kind of agenda or purpose. It is meant to have an impact of some type. It may try to change our thinking, make us want to purchase a product, or make some kind of impact on us. Sometimes it tells us a little bit about ourselves or our culture. Filtering all of this information is difficult because the agenda behind what we consume is a gentle manipulation. It is the static and distortion. Much of what I will write about is looking at this aspect of media and culture - the static and distortion.

I stumbled upon his blog when I saw some referrels show in my sitemeter.  It was fun for me to read through his posts.  I find him to be a very funny, thoughtful writer.  I'd subscribe to his blog even if I WASN'T his mother.  Maybe you'll enjoy it, too.

Thanks for the promotion.

I've been quietly blogging for about six months very sporadically and on no regular schedule. Mostly, I've been doing it for myself, both as an outlet, and as a trial to see if I want to really enter the more legitimate blog world beyond making Facebook notes and MySpace "blogs." As such, it's been under the radar, and a lot of trial and error. (As well as very few readers.)

So here we go. I won't guarantee I'll write every day, but we'll see what happens.

I think you should post that riff you did on 'things you can't do while holding a baby." It cracked me up.
