QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Compare yourself with those who on the Lord’s Day hear nothing except the dismal sound of the world. What a privilege it is for you to hear the proclamation of the gospel!

Sunday Hymn: Great God, We Sing That Mighty Hand

GREAT GOD, WE SING THAT MIGHTY HAND

Great God, we sing that mighty hand
By which supported still we stand;
The opening year thy mercy shows;
That mercy crowns it till it close.

By day, by night, at home, abroad,
Still are we guarded by our God;
By his incessant bounty fed,
By his unerring counsel led.

With grateful hearts the past we own;
The future, all to us unknown,
We to thy guardian care commit,
And peaceful leave before thy feet.

In scenes exalted or depressed,
Thou art our Joy, and thou our Rest;
Thy goodness all our hopes shall raise,
Adored through all our changing days.

When death shall interrupt these songs,
And seal in silence mortal tongues,
Our Helper God, in whom we trust,
Shall keep our souls and guard our dust.

Trinity Hymnal #612

Great words in this hymn Kim. We have a God we can trust. I'm hearing about more "weather" in Chicago and east of you! What a winter!!

Hi Ellen! Yes, it's been quite a winter, both here and on YOUR coast! How long has it been since Seattle had a winter like this?

I love the Trinity Hymns you post, and the words to this one are wonderful and very fitting for me today. Thanks, Kim.

You're welcome, Rosemary! I nearly always post a hymn from our Sunday service. Our friend, Dan, selects the songs, so I'll pass your comment along to him! I love the hymns from the Trinity Hymnal. They are so full of sound doctrine!

Ditto to the above. Plus, I love how the Spirit works in lives. You post this hymn over hundreds of miles away and yet it is the personal encouragement for my day today. Praise God for His many blessings of the Church!
