Inauguration Day
Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 06:08AM
Is it REALLY, finally Inauguration Day? Seems like it's been going for weeks and weeks already! Honestly, I am so sick of it already that I am tempted not to watch. But I will. I always do. I always want to hear the new President vow to uphold the Constitution. That's the moment for me. I want to hear his speech. I want to hear what he has to say. After all, like it or not, he is going to be my President.
How about you? Will you be watching today?

I'm with you; feeling much the same. I'll watch the speech - only so that, in case it's great, I'll be able to say I heard it.
I'm not among those who want to pray for the failure of this president/administration. However, some of his policies I do not want to succeed.
Scripture commands us to pray for those in authority, recognizing that it is our Supreme Ruler who has providentially placed them in their positions.
Agreed. I neither want him to succeed nor fail. I don't want him to succeed in his policies, but at the same time, I don't want him to fail in his Presidency. And yes, God has placed him in authority, therefore we must pray for him and support him unless supporting him causes us to .violate Scripture
I have to work, but I realize it will be on automatic repeat for the next month or so. I don't know if I'll have the courage to watch, though I know my husband will. I keep reminding myself that it is God who sets leaders in place, even when they're not to my liking. Pray, we must, for him, our country, the church and the world. I suspect the days ahead will increase our opportunity to be salt and light.
I don't plan to watch, but it will be difficult to get away from with all the rebroadcasts. I am so sick of it already.......
we need to pray....
I didn't see the original. I'll see it in repeats. And I'll mourn for the nation we should be and the nation we have become. God have mercy on His people. Thank God that His faithfulness and reign are eternal, perfect and true.
I saw it And I cried when I thought of how far this country has come-. Barack Obama is not the Anti-Christ. He is a man- he is our president- and he has showed a great deal of grace in his handling of sensitive relationships and issues. I don't know if he will be a great leader, but it is a beautiful thing to see a black man as president of the United States. God is in control-and we need to trust Him if not the man that the voters chose.
I didn't watch yet either. I plan to try to catch the highlights on youtube.
I didn't watch it or listen to any of the reporting about it. I will read it later, just because I want to know what was said without a bunch of talking heads telling me what I should think about it, or what it "really" said. I'm in mourning, too, for what his election means our country has become - not because of his race (because that shouldn't matter), but because there are just so many people who chose to completely ignore his record, what he has supported and promoted in the very short time that he was in the U.S. Senate, and what he has said all along that he believes should be done all because he and his party promised to give them good stuff.
