What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Conscience is something, in a sense, apart from man. It has been put in him by God; it is a reminder of the voice of God within him, an inward monitor, and a man cannot really manipulate his conscience. He can go against it, but that is not manipulating it. It is possible, as this Apostle says again in writing to Timothy, for the conscience to be seared “with a hot iron”. But nevertheless it is true to say that the conscience is an independent witness.
Martyn Lloyd-Jones (God’s Sovereign Purpose)

Giving Thanks in November

Yesterday got away from me.  I meant to write up a thankful post, but I never did get around to it.

I'm thankful that writing a blog post or not is not an indicator of my thankfulness!

A few of the things I was thankful for yesterday:

The Blue Trinity Hymnal

Boldness to speak up

Forgiveness

The Book of Hebrews

My church family

My kind and thoughtful husband

Cell phone cameras (was sent a snap of Elliott's first sit-in-the-barber's-chair haircut)

Warm weather in November and another beautiful day

My close knit family

Today will be a busy day, so I'll post preemptively--I'm thankful for my carpet cleaner.  I'm not looking forward to dragging it out and moving furniture, but I WILL be glad when my carpets are clean and fresh.

Have you been reading the Thankful Posts that Rebecca is rounding up at Rebecca Writes?  As I read other' thankful posts, it seems I can always find something more to be thankful for myself.

I love our Blue Trinity Hymnal as well. And last night's service included requests. Wow! Some really good hymns were chosen and sung loudly in praise to the One who deserves all praise.

I love the thankful posts. We seem to spend a lot of time during the year griping- so this is a refreshing season !

So many things to be thankful for, and actually writing about one or more of them each day and reading what others are writing is a very good thing for heart and mind!
