What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Compare yourself with those who on the Lord’s Day hear nothing except the dismal sound of the world. What a privilege it is for you to hear the proclamation of the gospel!

Sunday Hymn: Grace! 'Tis a Charming Sound

GRACE! 'TIS A CHARMING SOUND

Grace! 'tis a charming sound,
Harmonious to mine ear;
Heav'n with the echo shall resound,
And all the earth shall hear.

Grace first contrived a way
To save rebellious man,
And all the steps that grace display
Which drew the wondrous plan.

Grace taught my wand'ring feet
To tread the heav'nly road
And new supplies each hour I meet
While pressing on to God.

Grace all the work shall crown
Through everlasting days;
It lays in heav'n the topmost stone,
And well deserves the praise.

TRINITY HYMNAL #401

"...And new supplies each hour I meet while pressing on to God." I'm so thankful for the everlasting supply of grace God gives to us!

Pleasing...delightful...attractive..."grace." We don't use the word "charming" as much any more, but it suits any meditation on the wonderful grace of God. Thaks for posting Philip Dodderidge's hymn. He was born 308 years ago today, which makes this an old hymn. But it's message is still needed.
