Grrrr
Saturday, November 4, 2006 at 05:19PM
Imagine how surprised I was to discover that someone using my name sent me a rather nasty email--you know the kind. Sigh. . .
So if you find an email from me in your spam folder recommending a dubious product or telling you that your loan has been approved or any other questionable subject line--don't believe it. And don't open it.
I have nothing to sell, gave up dating almost thirty years ago, can't approve your loan, and wouldn't send out "those kinds" of emails.
Grrr.

You know, he good news is you are not alone and that it doesn't mean you have been hacked (a friend called me a while back convinced that her computer had been hacked because someone had "borrowed" her name. It is frustrating though. I share your frustration.
I can only hope that people know me well enough by now that they will know that anything bearing my name that is embarrassing or crude wasn't sent by me!
I just hope and pray my mother doesn't get one of those awful spam emails. She just got her first computer a few months ago and is still finding her way around email and the internet.
Grrr indeed though!
That happened to me one time. Somehow my email address was used for spam and my uni bookshop refused to send me email newsletters anymore because I had been spamming them! They didn't know me and thought I was playing dumb when I said I didn't do it. Finally the tech people at uni sorted it out for me, but it was rather embarrassing and I still don't know what I allegedly sent. The techies said it is not all that uncommon, so don't feel too bad, Kim.
Yeah, it happened to me for the first tiome a few weeks ago. It was a bit of a shock - getting span from oneself...
