What I Believe
QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Compare yourself with those who on the Lord’s Day hear nothing except the dismal sound of the world. What a privilege it is for you to hear the proclamation of the gospel!

Forgotten Bookmarks and other blogs

I follow some interesting, sort of quirky blogs. One of my very favorites is Forgotten Bookmarks--a blog that is written by someone who works at a 'used and rare bookstore' and is devoted entirely to 'the personal, funny, heartbreaking and weird things I find in those books.'

As a purveyor of bookmarks, it's interesting to me to see what people use as bookmarks.

How about YOU?  What do YOU use for a bookmark?  Do you have a favorite bookmark?  Do you just grab the nearest piece of paper?  Have you ever used a gum wrapper, a piece of spaghetti, a dollar bill, to mark your place?  Have you ever found an interesting bookmark in a used book?

So check it out.  I think you'll find it an interesting blog, too!

Oh, and if you like Forgotten Bookmarks, check out this off-shoot blog:  Handwritten Recipes.

Do you like fashion?  Maybe, like me, you just like to 'people watch.'  If so, you might enjoy The Sartorialist--a blog devoted to photos of fashionable people on the street from all over the world.  I've never had much fashion sense myself--I'm a jeans and t shirt girl--but I do enjoy seeing the various ways people express themselves through their clothing.

How about you?  Do you have any favorite blogs you'd like to share?  If so, leave the link in the comments and I'll check it out!

I love bookmarks- and I have my favorites- but I can't always find them so I've used the odd scrap of paper at times.
I have a policy to ALWAYS buy books that I find letters and personal items in- and I've found quite a few with newspaper clippings and personal letters. They add to the ambiance of the book for me .
Thanks for the new blog to see!

Oh, I love the forgotten bookmarks site--thanks so much for sending me that way! Makes you wish you could work in a "used and rare bookstore" doesn't it? Or at least have one nearby you could visit from time to time? :-)

And I (finally!) got some sourdough starter started...looking forward to baking some bread and soon...
